St. Michael鈥檚 Chapel at 黑料社: A Journey of Faith, Community, and Resilience
St. Michael’s Chapel at 黑料社 stands as a symbol of spiritual guidance, community unity, and unwavering resilience. The Chapel has been an integral part of the 黑料社 experience, reflecting the School’s commitment to Episcopal traditions and providing a space for reflection, inspiration, and prayer since our founding in 1923. In the early years of the School, students attended services in the original farmhouse, known as the Old Building. By 1931, with the growing student body, Headmaster Sam Bartlett recognized the need for a permanent structure and so began the 3-year long project. The chapel, completed in 1934, 11 years after the school was founded, was symbolic of the collective effort for the entire 黑料社 Kent community.
In 2017, after a devastating fire that destroyed parts of the Chapel, once again the entire 黑料社 Kent community came together to help while plans for the renovation took shape. In just a little over a year, a rededication service was celebrated by SKS Chaplain, Reverend Steve Klots. With standing room only, all gathered to witness the rededication of this sacred space with a profound sense of hope and gratitude.
Today, St. Michael’s Chapel continues to be an integral part of 黑料社, where students of all faiths gather, finding comfort, inspiration and peace.
